NYC Game of the Week
Code Red v. LinkedIn
Monday, June 22nd
By Stephanie Gaudinier
A beautiful day for some Kickball at Peter’s Field. YSA kicked off its first Kickball game with a matchup between Code Red and LinkedIn. LinkedIn would take the field first. Leading off for Code Red was Joe who would be tagged out at home plate for the first out of the inning. This would be followed by singles from Scott and Ciara to score a run for Code Red. A fly ball to the outfield and infield would end Code Red’s half of the inning. Code Red would deliver a 1-2-3 inning allowing no LinkedIn runs to score, leaving the score after 1: Code Red 1, LinkedIn 0. Heading into the second inning LinkedIn would step up defensively and force Code Red to leave runners on base scoring no runs. Code Red would hold LinkedIn to zero with an F-2, 2-2 double play.
Leading off for Code Red in the 3rd was Joe who would fly out to the left fielder. This would be followed by a single from Scott and a double from Julian to put another run on the board. LinkedIn would be shut down once again by a 1-2-3 inning from Code Red. A Code Red F-3, 3-3 double play would close out the inning. The score after 3: Code Red 2, LinkedIn 0. LinkedIn would return the favor in the 4th with a double play off of Harry’s kick. Brandon of Code Red was hit by Harry’s kick and called out. LinkedIn’s first basemen would capitalize on this and tag 1st to close the inning. Code Red follows that up with another 1-2-3 inning, shutting down LinkedIn’s offense once again.
In the 5th Code Red would score another two runs off a double from Kylie and singles from Scott, Julian and Alex. LinkedIn would continue to struggle offensively, leaving another inning scoreless. Neither team would score runs in the 6th. LinkedIn buckled down defensively in the top of the 7th with a 1-2-3 inning of their own. LinkedIn steps up to the plate. One final chance for them to get some runs. A few singles and a double allow them to score two runs. Their offensive rally is halted with a fly ball caught by Code Red’s pitcher Sean. The final score: Code Red 4, LinkedIn 2. A great game between two fun teams!
The fun didn’t stop there! Both teams headed back to Gramercy Park Bar & Grill for post-game socializing & refreshments.
We would like to thank both Code Red and LinkedIn for allowing us to feature their game. If you would like your team to be featured in YSA’s Game of the Week send an email to Stephanie at email@example.com.
